My Show Portfolio _ Learning Episode 5 ( Individual Output)

Learning Objectives

To develop competency of analyzing and interpreting the development of the various elements of a story entitled the Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe.

General Performance Task

Students will analyze and interpret the development of the various fictional elements in the story.

Learning Activities

1. Students will fill up the character map through written expression, drawing, or symbols.
2. Students will fill up the setting through written expression, drawing, or symbols.
3. Students will determine the theme in the story  through written expression, drawing, or symbols.
4. Students will determine the symbols found in the story  through written expression, drawing, or symbols.
5. Students will designed a diagram of any form, may it be collage, sociogram, poster,etc.

Assessment Task

Students will be provided with a literary maps, it requires them to design and fill up. this diagram is 1 per group. By this, it will guide students to organize their ideas on the story

Rubrics for Assessing Learning

1. Provides enough details on the character, setting, conflict, resolution, theme, symbols, and as a whole - 65%
2. Audience Impact - 20%
3. Voice Quality - 15 %

                                                "THE PRODUCT ORIENTED"

                      

     Product oriented activities are those that expect a certain outcome at the end of the project. Such as making an art activity to look exactly like a model. The teacher let children to make the object just as you have. This form of art should only be used if the goal of the activity is to follow directions, or to master another skill- such as cutting, tracing, or developing sensory tolerance.The teacher said the Process oriented activities are those that focus on the process of the project- not the outcome. The children can make it any way they want, and do not have a model in front of them to show them the adult version of the activity. Because thru arts it allows for the child to work with their imagination and creativity that cannot be gained from a "Product oriented" project. 
   Also for teachers Product oriented activities are one where the teachers want something out of it. The reason of it is to have the activity the teachers want kids to -be able to for the kids to learn in a fun way. Just like the painting, isn't about the beautiful picture at the end, it is about how the children learn to hold the brush, move it in different ways, make different colors by mixing paint, and everything else they learn from that. Process oriented activities are based on children's interests and developing at their own rates. They are more child-centered and reflect higher knowledge about child development and respecting children.

                                                 "My feelings and thoughts"


                  
                I truly appreciated the teacher who makes his students hospitable and very clever in term of discussion. The students is properly oriented on the things needed to learn first like basic steps, for them table to perform the task you asked them to do. I see to it that the design is in-line to the skills the teacher wanted to evaluate is being achieve. Also the teacher consider the skills they want to showcase and make sure if it is necessary to use the design or not for the teacher. Above all the teacher really needs to give attention during the performance base task, it is because the students give their actual skill without editing in any aspect. You can directly observed the unique behaviors each student may exhibit during the performance. It gives the student the opportunity to showcase their real skills and ability regarding the task.

                                               Authentic Assessment


                 

                       An authentic assessment is a form of assessment in which students are asked to perform real-world tasks that demonstrate meaningful application of essential knowledge and skills. This would help students and teachers to identify the strength and weaknesses of the students. Authentic assessment is used before or after the class to determine wither the child understand the lesson that the teacher uttered. This also helps the teacher if their teaching strategies are effective and will define. This also measures the product of learning because at the end of the duration this would help the child or a graduate to be more competitive in their field

                               Mrs. Gloria Patlunag is a Filipino teacher for almost 25 years. She practiced lot of teaching strategies and different approach in giving her evaluation to her students. From now, she has eight classes and most of the population she have is 35 to 40 students. But she said, she doesn’t  have any problems she face because college is not like high school and elementary that needs lot of things that include the classroom settings and other things to make her students comfortable. She said, she has different type of teaching. Firsts, she is the one who gives her discussion and after that she will give an evaluation such as paper and pen or a group discussion or an interaction of two.
Along the way she will assign her students to report such topic and discussed it properly. After the discussion she will give her discussion again about the topic. Also, she let her student to be creative of their visual aids whether it is a cartolina nor a power point. Because she want to see the creative side of her students.  
                               I fell that the authentic that the teacher uses is effective because she uses the traditional and new tread assessment. Just like after discussion she let her student to have discussion with group or by two’s to brain storm their idea about the certain topic and sometimes she gives an evaluation. Also she uses new found and can entertain students during discussion. For me theirs should no need to revised because as far I see the authentic assessment she use is effective but as the world revolve she need to improve it more by using new technology for the students to now the essence of discovering.
